Djiboutian Ambassador: Opening of Consulate in Dakhla Highlights Djibouti's Commitment to Respecting Morocco's Territorial Integrity
Mr. Ibrahim Bileh Doualeh : "he desire to open a Djiboutian consulate general in the Moroccan Sahara underscores once again Djibouti's commitment to respecting Morocco's territorial integrity"

This political action is in line with Djibouti's desire to affirm the territorial integrity of the brotherly kingdom of Morocco, assured Doualeh during a joint press briefing with Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita.

The opening of the consulate general in Dakhla illustrates Djibouti's commitment to strengthen its ties of brotherhood and friendship with its historic ally, the Kingdom of Morocco, he noted during this press briefing held following the inauguration of this diplomatic representation, the third in Dakhla after those of Gambia and Guinea.

"It also highlights the excellent relations of friendship and cooperation and attests to the will to continue the dynamic and the comprehensive partnership marking our relations," he added.

Doualeh described this day as "historic" and reiterated that "his country thanks the brotherly kingdom of Morocco for its assistance". The diplomat also said he was convinced that relations will experience happy prospects in the near future.

The opening ceremony, chaired by Bourita and Doualeh, took place notably in the presence of Director General of the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI), ambassador Mohamed Methqal, the Wali of Dakhla-Oued Eddahab region, governor of Oued Eddahab province, Lamine Benomar and president of the region El Khattat Yanja. It is the third consular representation to open in Dakhla and the ninth in the southern provinces in less than three months.

Bourita had presided, a few hours earlier in Laayoune with his Burundian counterpart Ezechiel Nibigira, the opening ceremony of the Consulate General of the Republic of Burundi, the sixth diplomatic representation in the capital of the Moroccan Sahara in less than three months.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs announced last December that the cities of Laayoune and Dakhla will have a total of ten diplomatic representations by the end of the current year.
