On this occasion, Mr. Bourita said that the Kingdom, in accordance with a far-sighted royal vision, is also committed to strengthening national capacities for sustainable development, and fruitful partnerships by involving the public and private sectors.

He also stressed that Morocco, a founding member of NAM, considers this structure as a "prestigious platform" dedicated to joint action and a relevant forum to build a world where democracy, security, justice and human rights prevail.

The Non-Aligned Movement is called upon to contribute effectively to efforts to establish a new world order dedicated to joint action that consolidates collective security and responds to current and future challenges, said the Minister, noting that HM the King sets as a priority the accession of Morocco to a multilateral system, based on cooperation, pragmatism and ambition, while ensuring that national policies are in tune with the UN agenda.

Within this framework, the Sovereign has launched a series of initiatives that address vital issues, such as the launch of a first national project for the manufacture and production of anti-epidemic vaccines as a proactive measure that would meet all national and African needs.

The Minister also cited national efforts in collaboration with international partners to address common challenges arising from migration and the activities of human trafficking networks, as reflected in the national immigration and asylum strategy.

Morocco has also expressed its continued commitment to international coordination efforts in the fight against terrorism, extremism and organized crime, recalling the hosting by Morocco last May of the ministerial meeting of the Global Coalition against Daesh.

Referring to the Sahara issue, Bourita said that Morocco continues to work for the final peaceful settlement of this regional dispute within the framework of its sovereignty and territorial integrity, under the exclusive auspices of the United Nations.

Morocco remains convinced that the resolution of this artificial dispute will strengthen stability and sustainable development, and will protect the western region of North Africa and the Sahel from the dangers of separatism, balkanization, extremism and international terrorism.

"If the international community calls for working to find a realistic, pragmatic, sustainable and consensual solution to this regional conflict, and if the Moroccan autonomy initiative is now widely supported by the international community as the only serious, realistic and credible proposal, then Algeria must assume its responsibility and abandon the double rhetoric," he said

Algeria "must engage seriously and constructively in the political process of round tables sponsored by the United Nations," he insisted.

He further noted that the participation of Algeria in the political process, as the real responsible for the creation and maintenance of this regional conflict, is the only way to resolve this issue.

Algeria is called upon, more than ever, to fully assume its historical responsibility, to abandon the outdated options and to engage in the process of round tables in a spirit of realism and consensus, as stipulated in the resolutions of the Security Council, including the 2602, added the minister.

At the same time, Morocco continues its efforts to implement the development model in its southern provinces and the advanced regionalization project so as to ensure the inhabitants of the Moroccan Sahara the self-management of their local affairs in a democratic climate.

Bourita also expressed Morocco's deep concern about the catastrophic humanitarian situation prevailing in the Tindouf camps, where Algeria has abandoned its responsibilities towards this population in favor of a separatist armed group, in flagrant violation of international humanitarian law.

"The international community is called upon to act to compel Algeria to allow the UN High Commissioner for Refugees to conduct a census and registration of the population of the camps of Tindouf, to stop the systematic diversion of humanitarian aid to this population, "held against its will for over 45 years, and who suffers daily from the worst violations of its fundamental rights," said the minister.

The meeting of the Non-Aligned Movement took place on the sidelines of the 77th General Assembly of the United Nations (13-27 September).
