Banjul- The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of the Republic of The Gambia wishes to reiterate its recognition of the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco and is following with deep concern developments emanating from El Guergarat buffer zone.

In a statement, issued today November 16th, The Gambia reiterated “its recognition of Morocco’s territorial integrity” while commending “the peaceful and decisive action taken by Morocco in ensuring the free movement of people and goods in the El Guergarat corridor”.

The Gambian Ministry of Foreign Affairs also stated that it “aligns itself with the United Nations’ position in finding a lasting, political and diplomatic solution to the conflict in the Moroccan Sahara”.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs therefore lauded the peaceful efforts initiated by the Kingdom of Morocco in bringing about a long-lasting solution to the conflict under the aegis of the United Nations as explicitly stated in the UN Security Council Resolutions.
