Rabat - Morocco was elected on December 2, 2020, in Rome, member of the Board of Directors of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) following its appointment by the African Regional Group to the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

The Kingdom of Morocco was chosen by the FAO Council alongside five other countries (Brazil, Guatemala, Denmark, Norway, and Hungary) to be a member of the WFP Executive Board for a three-year term from January 1, 2021, to December 31, 2023.

The election of the Kingdom to one of the most important players in global humanitarian action is a sign of the great international consideration shown towards solidarity initiatives and concrete and high impact actions carried out under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI in favor of disaster-stricken populations throughout the world, victims of conflicts, health crises and natural disasters.

It is also a recognition of the expertise developed by Morocco in the areas of governance and management of the various phases related to the implementation of humanitarian aid policies and programs in the world.
