Covid-19: l'aide médicale marocaine destinée à la RD Congo réceptionnée à Kinshasa
Kinshasa, (MOFA) - The Moroccan medical assistance sent to the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as part of a package of aid granted on very high instructions from His Majesty King Mohammed VI to several sister African countries to support them in their efforts to fight the coronavirus pandemic, arrived Tuesday afternoon in Kinshasa.

This Royal Initiative reflects the Sovereign's particular interest in strengthening inter-African cooperation in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.

The aid, which backs DRC's efforts to combat the coronavirus epidemic, includes protective masks, visors, gowns, hydro-alcoholic gel, and batches of chloroquine and Azithromycin, among others.

The equipment and products making up the Moroccan aid were received at Kinshasa airport by the Minister of Scientific Research, José Mpanda Kabangue, in the presence of Minister of State, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Marie Tumba Nzeza, the head of State's special adviser on health and coordinator of the Task Force, Roger Kamba, in addition to Morocco's ambassador to DR Congo, Rachid Agassim.

On this occasion, Minister of Scientific Research said that this initiative is "very positive" in the sense that it materializes the vision that the solution to the Covid-19 pandemic in Africa "should come from south-south cooperation", specifying that through this "purely Moroccan" medical aid, the Kingdom "has just taken a big step towards the DRC".

"HM King Mohammed VI has demonstrated the example" that "the synergy must be African" to solve African problems, he added.

For her part, Minister Marie Tumba Nzeza expressed "all the gratitude" of the DRC to Morocco. "I say this not only on my own behalf but on behalf of those at the head of the country," namely President of the Republic Felix Tshisekedi and Prime Minister Sylvestre Ilunga Ilunkamba, she said.

"We are particularly touched to see that an African country like Morocco has remembered us and has not forgotten us in these difficult times we are going through," she added.
