2nd AU-EU Ministerial Meeting in Kigali: MFA Nasser Bourita Holds Talks with Several African and European Ministers
The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, met on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 in Kigali, on the sidelines of his participation in the 2nd Preparatory Ministerial Meeting of the next EU-AU summit scheduled for next February in Brussels, with several African and European Ministers of Foreign Affairs.

On the sidelines of this second ministerial meeting, Mr. Bourita had bilateral talks with his respective counterparts, Mr. Jean-Yves Le Drian, Ms. Sophie Wilmès, Mr. Augusto Santos Silva, Mr. Jeppe Kofod, Mr. Peter Szijjarto and Mr. Evarist Bartolo.

Mr. Bourita also met the MFAs of Mauritania, Mr. Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed, of Gambia, Mr. Mamadou Tangara, of Senegal, Ms. Aïssata Tall Sall, of Zambia, Mr. Stanley Kakubo, of Comoros, Mr. Dhoihir Dhoulkamal, of Benin, Mr. Aurélien Agbénonci, of Togo, Mr. Robert, Dussey, of Somalia, Mr. Abdirizak, of South Soudan, Mr. Mayiik Ayii Deng, of Liberia, Mr. Dee-Maxwell Saah Kemayah, of sierra Leon, Mr. David Francis, of Central Africa, Ms. Sylvie Baïpo-Temon, of DRC, Ms. Marie Tumba Nzeza, and of Equatorial Guinea, Ms. Simeón Oyono Esono Angue as well as the High Representative and Vice-President of the European Commission, Mr. Josep Borrell.

The stakes and prospects of bilateral cooperation as well as common challenges were at the heart of the bilateral talks which brought together Mr. Bourita and his African and European counterparts.

The 2nd Preparatory Ministerial Meeting for the 6th EU-AU Summit was chaired jointly by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the DRC, Mr. Christophe Lutundula, whose country currently chairs the AU, and the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, Mr. Josep Borrell.

During this meeting, European and African foreign ministers accessed the progress made since the fifth EU-AU summit (Abidjan, 29-30 November 2017), by exchanging views.
