Arrivée à Rabat de la présidente de la Commission européenne
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, arrived Tuesday in Rabat.

The European official was welcomed at the Rabat-Salé airport by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, MFA Nasser Bourita.

This is von der Leyen's first visit to Morocco in her capacity as President of the European Commission.

"This visit is part of the bilateral partnership between Morocco and the European Union that the President has, of course, at heart to strengthen," said Eric Mamer, spokesman of the European executive.

Morocco and the EU launched on June 27, 2019 in Brussels the EU-Morocco Partnership for Shared Prosperity, a new statutory framework that governs their bilateral relations.

It is based on four structuring areas, namely an Area of Convergence of Values, an Area of Economic Convergence and Social Cohesion, an Area of Shared Knowledge and an Area of Political Dialogue and Increased Cooperation in Security.

This Framework is also based on two fundamental horizontal axes that will also be the subject of specific operational actions, namely cooperation on the environment and the fight against climate change and cooperation on mobility and migration, which will be mutually reinforcing.
