In a joint press briefing held following Mr. Bourita’s talks with the Jordanian Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Mr. Ayman Safadi, Mr. Bourita said that a Joint High Commission will be held as soon as possible. A forum of Moroccan and Jordanian businessmen will also be held, in parallel, to discuss ways of action and joint investment in the two countries or in other regions including the African continent.

The two ministers also stressed the importance of removing all obstacles to cooperation between the businessmen of the two kingdoms, including facilitating the issuance of visas.

In this context, Mr. Bourita said that practical measures will be taken soon to resolve all these problems, in addition to the issue of air and sea transport, since it is considered essential to strengthen cooperation and trade between the two countries.

Recalling the exceptional relations between the two kingdoms under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI and His brother HM King Abdullah II, Mr. Bourita said that these ties have all the foundations to rise to the level of a strategic partnership in all areas.

He also said that, under the leadership of the two Heads of State, the two kingdoms have achieved much in the framework of political coordination and bilateral cooperation.

He added: ‘’Today what is imperative is to implement the main reference of this relationship, namely the Joint Communiqué issued at the end of the meeting of the leaders of the two states in late March 2019 in Casablanca, to give more economic and humanitarian content to these ties".

He also stressed the fact that the Kingdoms of Jordan and Morocco share the same positions on the Palestinian issue, clarifying that these positions are based on Arab references to the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state on the borders of June 4th, 1967, with East Al-Quds as its capital.

He also stressed that Morocco supports Jordan's central role in the Palestinian cause and the role of HM King Abdullah II regarding the guardianship of the Islamic waqfs in the city of Al-Quds.

He added that His Majesty King Mohammed VI supports this role and calls for coordination with Jordan in everything that concerns the Palestinian cause, the Waqfs and the Islamic Places in the Holy City of Al Quds, explaining that the two countries are working together to support the Al Quds inhabitants and also preserve the Arab and Islamic identity of the holy city.

Mr. Bourita also highlighted the continued coordination between Morocco and Jordan, within the framework of the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, and in all international fora, based on the sharing by the two countries of the same vision, pursuant to the directives of their leaders, to work together for the benefit of regional and international security and stability.

He said that in accordance with the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Morocco's coordination is permanent with Jordan, "which is a partner and an ally with which the Kingdom shares the same vision on all bilateral, regional and international issues".

Regarding the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, Mr. Bourita expressed Morocco's appreciation of the constant position of Jordan and the Hashemite Sovereign regarding the territorial integrity of the Kingdom, highlighting that the decision of HM King Abdullah II to open a Consulate General in Laayoune is a strong sign of this support. A sign that is highly appreciated by His Majesty the King, the government and the Moroccan people.

For his part, Mr. Safadi reaffirmed the constant position of the Kingdom of Jordan supporting the territorial integrity of the brotherly Kingdom of Morocco and the need to settle the issue of the Moroccan Sahara on the basis of the Autonomy Initiative, and in a way that guarantees and preserves the territorial integrity of Morocco and the sovereignty of the Kingdom over all of its territory.

He also said that Jordan is proud of the strategic and historical relations between the two kingdoms, which are working to develop these ties in various areas, in accordance with the directives of the leaders of both countries.

The Jordanian minister said that he discussed with his Moroccan counterpart the practical measures needed to activate cooperation in accordance with the declaration issued after the meeting of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His brother, His Majesty King Abdullah II in Casablanca in 2019. Following the meeting, they decided to start preparations for holding, in Amman as soon as possible, the Joint High Commission that had convened in Morocco in 2016.

He added that, during this meeting, it was agreed to facilitate the movement of citizens between the two Kingdoms through the treatment of visa issues.

Regarding the Palestinian issue, Mr. Safadi said: "We agree that this is the central issue and that the only solution to achieve a just and comprehensive peace will be through the two-state solution that embodies the independent and sovereign Palestinian state with occupied Al-Quds as its capital within the borders of June 4th, 1967, to live in security and peace alongside Israel".

He added: "We discussed the efforts we will continue to make in order to resume serious and effective negotiations that will lead us to progress towards a just peace on the basis of the two-state solution".

The two ministers also discussed, during their meeting, which comes on the eve of the meeting of the Ministerial Council of the Arab League in Cairo, ways to activate joint Arab action to serve Arab issues, foremost among which is the Palestinian cause.
