"We support - and we have said it clearly- the territorial integrity of Morocco," Joseph told the press following talks in Rabat with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Exoatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita. Haiti will continue to support Morocco in international fora, he said.

Haiti's MFA described Morocco as a true partner for his country, adding that his meeting with MFA Bourita was an opportunity to discuss ways to boost bilateral relations.

"We will continue to work together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs to give new directions to this relationship that has existed for 30 years (between the two countries)," he said.

For his part, MFA Bourita said that Morocco supports Haiti's reform and development efforts, stressing that the Kingdom "will always be at Haiti's side in these processes."

Morocco's MFA also noted that the relationship between the two countries has always been based on solidarity and friendship, recalling, in this regard, the concrete gestures of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him.

MFA Bourita said, in this sense, that the Sovereign had given His high instructions back in 2004 so that a contingent of Moroccan peacekeepers is stationed in Haiti as part of the United Nations Stabilisation Mission in Haiti (UNSTAMIH).

In 2010, when an earthquake struck Haiti, Morocco sent the equivalent of more than $1 million worth of pharmaceutical products, on instructions of His Majesty the King, the MFA added.

On another note, MFA Bourita said his meeting with his Haitian counterpart was an opportunity to review the state of bilateral relations and to stress that this relationship has always been based on solidarity and friendship.

He also expressed his thanks to the Republic of Haiti for its"constant, clear and supportive" position on the Moroccan Sahara issue.

"Haiti has always been a reliable ally of Morocco within regional and international organizations in defending the legitimate interests of Morocco and the territorial integrity of the Kingdom on this part of its territory," MFA Bourita concluded.
