The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mrs. Mounia Boucetta, received on Tuesday 23 May 2017 in Rabat, the Assistant Director-General for Natural Sciences of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Mrs. Flavia Schlegel.
During this meeting, the two parties discussed different aspects of cooperation between Morocco and UNESCO.
Mrs. Boucetta seized the opportunity to highlight Morocco's commitment to science and in particular, its efforts to combat climate change. Mrs. Boucetta also welcomed the quality of cooperation between Morocco and UNESCO since the accession of the Kingdom to this UN body in 1956.
For her part, the Assistant Director-General of UNESCO, Mrs. Flavia Schiegel, congratulated the Kingdom on the excellent organization of COP22 and its commitment to fighting climate change.
She also praised Morocco for the vital role it plays in the African continent, referring to the Kingdom as as a bridge between the continent and the rest of the world.
