The Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mrs. Mounia Boucetta, took part in the inaugural session of the 2nd Morocco-Ethiopia Business and Investment Forum on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 in Rabat, in the presence of a large delegation of Ethiopian businessmen.
On this occasion, Mrs. Boucetta stated that Morocco has always been one of the first countries to support all initiatives aimed at promoting human and sustainable development in Africa.
Furthermore, the Secretary of State stressed that Morocco remains faithful to the principles of an active African solidarity, which is part of South-South cooperation, calling for the reinforcement of Moroccan-Ethiopian relations through tripartite cooperation between the two countries and other international partners.
Mrs. Boucetta also emphasized the need to explore ways and means to develop bilateral trade, noting that Morocco is a regional hub, not only because of its geographical position but also because of its infrastructure, its industrial platform and the efforts of its economic operators, who have developed expertise and experience at the international level.
In this regard, the Secretary of State declared that Morocco is Africa's leading investor in West Africa and second in the continent as a whole, adding that thanks to its sectoral strategies, Morocco has been able to develop drivers of growth, particularly in the areas of industry, agriculture and services.
This meeting allowed 300 Moroccan operators to learn about Ethiopia's foreign investment policy and to appreciate the attractiveness of the Ethiopian market in the strategic sectors of agro-industry, fisheries, industry, Energy, infrastructure and logistics.
