Official Welcome Ceremony in Casablanca for Rwandan President Paul Kagame

His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, chaired, on Monday at the Meshuar square in the Casablanca Royal Palace, the official welcome ceremony for the President of the Rwandan Republic, HE Mr. Paul Kagame.


Upon his arrival at the Meshuar square, the Rwandan President was welcomed by His Majesty the King, May God Assist Him, who was accompanied by HRH Prince Moulay Rachid.

The Sovereign and President Paul Kagame joined the VIP stand to salute the flags while the national anthems of both countries were playing. A 21-gun salute was fired to welcome the Rwandan Head of State.

His Majesty King Mohammed VI and His illustrious guest subsequently reviewed a detachment of the Royal Guard who made the honors before President Paul Kagame was greeted by the Head of Government, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, the Speaker of the House of Councilors, His Majesty the King's Advisors, cabinet members and several civil and military figures.

The Rwandan President was also greeted by the first President of the Court of Cassation, the Royal General Prosecutor of this court, the President of the Constitutional Council, the President of the Court of Auditors, the Presidents of constitutional bodies, the Director of the private secretariat of His Majesty the King, the Chamberlain of His Majesty the King, the spokesperson of the Royal Palace, the historiographer of the Kingdom, the Director of the Royal Court and by the “chargés de missions” at the Royal Cabinet.          

The Rwandan Head of State was also greeted by the dean of the diplomatic corps accredited in Rabat, the Head of African Diplomatic missions accredited in Morocco, the superior officials of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, the Director General of the National Security and of the National Territorial Surveillance, the Director General of Research and Documentation, the Wali of the Casablanca-Settat region, local deputies and representatives of civil and military authorities.  

Afterwards, His Majesty the King was greeted by members of the delegation accompanying the President of the Republic of Rwanda, composed of Mrs. Louise Mushikiwabo, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Patrick Karuretwa, Councilor and Private Secretary of President Paul Kagame, Mr. Uzziel Ndagijimana, Minister of State in charge of economic planning, the Brigadier General Joseph Nzabamwita, the Secretary General in charge of intelligence and security, Mrs. Faith Rugema, Director of State Protocol, Mr. Serge Kamuhinda, Vice-President of operations and development of Rwanda, Mr. Emmanuel Hategeka, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, and Mr. Benjamin Gasamagera, President of the Rwandese Private Sector Federation.  

The President Paul Kagame was then greeted by members of the honorary committee, notably Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, and Mr. Abdelilah Benryane, Ambassador of Morocco to Rwanda with residence in Nairobi.
