The island States of the Pacific

Morocco’s relations with the Island States of the Pacific dating back to over 20 years ago have been reinforced by the establishment of diplomatic relations respectively with the Republic of Fiji, Kiribati, Marshal Islands, Micronesia, Nauru, Palau, Papua New Guinea, Salomon islands, Republic of Samoa, Kingdom of Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu.

There exists a strong common will to cooperate in the areas of common interest, at the bilateral level and with regard to global issues, through deeper consultations, during the previous years, within the international forums and organizations.

At the economic level, it is undeniable that the distance factor represents a handicap for the development of large scale commercial relations between Morocco and the Island States of the Pacific; nonetheless there could be a fruitful economic and technical cooperation in the future due to these counties’ adherence to the ideas of the development of South-South Cooperation.
