The Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar held today at the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation the 1st session of the Political Consultations between the two countries, co-chaired by the Secretary of the State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Ms. Mounia Boucetta, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Myanmar, Mr. U Kyaw Tin.
The discussions focused on bilateral issues of common interest in the political, economic, cultural and human level as well as regional and international issues additionally to operational modalities for strengthening their mutual support and consultations within the international organizations.
Ms. Boucetta noted both Myanmar’s support for the Moroccan Sahara issue and its respect for the country’s territorial integrity, praising the support of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar for the Kingdom of Morocco’s candidature for the friendship treaty and Cooperation of the ASEAN and its support to the process of accession of Morocco to the mechanism “Partner to the sectoral dialogue”.
At the meeting, the two parties reviewed the actions to take due to the celebration of the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
At the end of the meeting, the two countries signed first an agreement on visa exemption for diplomatic, special or service passports’ holders, and second on bilateral consultations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.
