The transfer of power ceremony between Mr. Nasser Bourita, appointed by His Majesty King Mohammed VI as Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and his predecessor, Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, was held on the 5th of April 2017 at the headquarters of the Ministry in Rabat.
Mr. Mezouar congratulated Mr. Bourita on the trust placed in him by His Majesty the King, considering that this appointment constitutes a continuation of Mr. Bourita's journey within the Ministry.
He expressed his conviction that Mr. Bourita will bring an add value to the work of this department, in accordance with Morocco's new foreign policy and the requirements of the current international situation.
On this occasion, Mr. Mezouar also congratulated Mrs. Mounia Boucetta, appointed by the Sovereign as Secretary of State to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, praising her skills and her remarkable professional background as well as her human qualities.
He also congratulated the work accomplished by Ms. Mbarka Bouaida while she held the position of Minister Delegate to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, wishing her success in her new role as Secretary of State to the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, in charge of Maritime Fisheries.
Mr. Mezouar also indicated that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has been strengthened by the attachment of the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in charge of Moroccans living abroad and Migration Affairs, which reflects, he added, the role and importance of this department in meeting the challenges that Morocco faces.
Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Bourita expressed his great gratitude for the confidence placed in him by His Majesty the King, while expressing his wish to do justice to this responsibility.
Furthermore, he emphasized that thanks to the vision and the personal involvement of His Majesty the King, Moroccan diplomacy has accomplished important achievements these recent years. He also expressed his appreciation for the efforts put in by Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar in this regard.
Mr. Bourita noted that this appointment is a royal message, building trust in the women and men of the ministry, while stressing that this message consists in making the ministry a fundamental structure in accompanying the vision of His Majesty the King and help achieve the royal vision in meeting the challenges posed.
In the same vein, Mr. Bourita stated that, thanks to the royal vision, Morocco currently occupies an important place in the African continent and the Arab world, adding that the Kingdom has a clear vision and an approach based on initiative, responsiveness and mobilization to achieve the expected objectives.
In this regard, he stressed the importance for all the components of the ministry to pursue reforms and to accompany the vision of the Sovereign, in accordance with the High Royal Instructions and on the basis of a responsible approach, as well as the commitment to achieve the goals set by His Majesty the King.
For her part, Mrs. Boucetta expressed her gratitude for the royal trust, assuring that she will put her experience at the service of the ministry in several areas.
In this context, she stressed the importance of working in accordance with the Royal guidelines to achieve the set objectives.
