The Ambassador, Secretary-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Mohammed Ali Lazreq, chaired, Tuesday 09 March 2017, at the Moroccan Academy for Diplomatic Studies, in Rabat, the closing ceremony of the international training of diplomacy in the English language for diplomats of the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).
In her opening remarks, the Director of the Academy, Ms. Nadia El HNOT, emphasized that this training falls within the spirit of the provisions of the Agreement for Friendship and Cooperation signed with South East Asian Nations, in September 2016 at the last ASEAN summit in Laos. In the same vein, the Director recalled that the Academy had organized a diplomatic training course for diplomats from Myanmar and Laos in 2015.
This training cycle lasted two weeks and focused on the Moroccan economic system, cooperation with Asian countries, SOUTH-SOUTH cooperation, as well as Morocco's experience in human development and the fight against terrorism. The training program also included visits to different institutions operating in the economic, cultural and religious fields as well as several cities of the Kingdom.
On another note, ASEAN diplomats expressed their satisfaction with the training program and their gratitude to the Academy team for their hospitality and guidance during the training which was relevant and rewarding.
The awards ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of Thailand, the Ambassador of Vietnam, and several officials from the Ministry and the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation.
