Sahara: UK Reaffirms Support to UN Security Council Resolution 2602 Hailing Morocco's Serious, Credible Efforts

The United Kingdom reaffirmed, Wednesday in London, its support to the UN Security Council Resolution 2602 which welcomes the "serious" and "credible" efforts of Morocco to resolve the conflict over the Moroccan Sahara.

In a joint statement at the end of the 3rd session of the Morocco-UK strategic dialogue, held between British Foreign Minister Liz Truss and Morocco's Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita, the United Kingdom stressed "the primary role" of the United Nations in the process of settling this dispute.

The two countries also welcomed the appointment of the UN Secretary-General's Personal Envoy, Staffan de Mistura, and reiterated their full support for his efforts to find a solution to this long-standing dispute.
