Mme. Myriem Nagi met en avant les efforts déployés par le Consulat Général de Toulouse au profit des concitoyens bloqués sur place
Rabat, (MOFA) - The Consul General of the Kingdom of Morocco in Toulouse, Mrs. Myriem Nagi, highlighted the efforts made and the continuous support that the Consulate General brings to the entire Moroccan community, in constant coordination with the Embassy of the Kingdom in Paris, and along the lines of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates’ instructions.

Mrs. Nagi, who was talking to the national channel Al Aoula, reviewed all the measures taken by our diplomatic and consular representations following the announcement of the exceptional and temporary border closure by the Kingdom of  Morocco.

Mrs. Nagi said the consulate has identified and registered 255 stranded nationals.  These are essentially people on family visits, a few tourists, trainees who were on university exchange programs and others on a professional trip, specifies the Consul General.

Mrs. Nagi stressed that the support of the Consulate comes in three plans, namely psychological and moral support through permanent contact by phone or reception at the consulate, administrative support by facilitating contact with local authorities for  various administrative procedures, essentially, for the extension of tourist visas or for the treatment of certain very specific administrative cases and finally logistical support.

The Consulate General has concretely handled more than 80 specific requests for help from all categories.  She also recalled that with the arrival of the holy month of Ramadan, new and more suitable measures have been put in place, thus entering a new phase of support.

Referring to the burial in Muslim squares, Mrs. Nagi noted the delicacy of this question for families who unfortunately lost one of their own in these complex circumstances.

Aware of this situation, the Consul General in Toulouse accompanies the families of the deceased and provides them with support by establishing permanent contact in this sense with local authorities and funeral directors to facilitate all procedures.  For families who do not have the necessary financial means, the Consulate covers the burial costs of their loved ones, said Nagi.

The Consul General of the Kingdom in Toulouse acknowledged the patience of our stranded nationals and the spirit of solidarity of those who are permanent residents in France who spontaneously came to the aid of their fellow compatriots during this exceptional situation.
