161st ordinary session of the Arab League's Council at Foreign Ministers Level: MFA Nasser Bourita Holds Talks with Several Counterparts in Cairo

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, held talks, on March, 06, 2024 with Several Counterparts in Cairo, on the sidelines of the 161st ordinary session of the Arab League's Council at Foreign Ministers Level.

Mr. Nasser Bourita met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Mauritanians Abroad, Mohamed Salem Ould Merzoug, to discuss ways of strengthening bilateral cooperation in various fields.

The meeting took place shortly before the Arab League Council meeting, during which the Kingdom of Morocco handed over the rotating presidency of the Council to Mauritania.

In addition, Mr. Nasser Bourita held talks with the Emirati Minister of State, Mr. Khalifa Shahine Almarar.

During these talks, the two parties exchanged views on a number of issues of common interest, as well as on ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields.

Mr. Nasser Bourita also discussed with his Egyptian counterpart, Mr. Sameh Shoukry, ways of boosting Morocco-Egypt relations. The two ministers also discussed the main items on the agenda of the session of the Council of the Arab League.

Mr. Nasser Bourita also held talks with Mr. Taher Al Baour, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation within the unity government in Libya.

The meeting, which took place on the sidelines of the 161st session of the Arab League Council of Foreign Ministers, provided an opportunity to review the latest developments in Libya.

In an address to the Arab ministerial meeting, Mr. Nasser Bourita said that the Kingdom of Morocco will continue its efforts to create the right conditions and climate to achieve a comprehensive political settlement in Libya, through the holding of credible and transparent elections, free from any foreign interference, so as to guarantee Libyan ownership of the political process based on the Skhirat Agreement, concluded in 2015, as the general framework for the political solution in Libya.
