MFA Nasser Bourita Receives His Gambian Counterpart

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, received on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, in Rabat, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of the Republic of the Gambia, Dr. Mamadou Tangara, to whom he conveyed greetings from President Adama Barrow to His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

During a press briefing after his talks with MFA Bourita, Dr. Tangara said, "this is my first official visit to Morocco following [...] the formation of the new government in the Gambia; a fact that fully demonstrates the excellence of relations between our two countries."

He hence recalled that the Gambia was the first country to open a consulate in the city of Dakhla, which constitutes an integral part of the Moroccan territory.

In this sense, he noted that both countries are preparing to organize a joint Moroccan-Gambian commission in Banjul, adding that a team from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates is currently in the Gambia to open a diplomatic representation there.

Dr. Tangara also welcomed the support provided by the Kingdom in the field of training of Gambian officials.
