MFA Nasser Bourita Held talks with His Argentinian Counterpart

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, MFA Nasser Bourita, held talks, on Friday, March 04, 2022 by videoconference, with Minister of Foreign Relations, International Trade and Worship of the Argentine Republic, Mr. Santiago Andrés Cafiero.

On this occasion, the two Ministers welcomed the positive and sustained momentum that characterizes the Moroccan-Argentine relations, reflected by a constructive political dialogue and a convergence of views on many regional and international issues.

MFA Bourita and Mr. Cafiero reaffirmed the common will of His Majesty King Mohammed VI and the Argentine President, Alberto Angel Fernandez, to continue consolidating bilateral relations between Morocco and Argentina within the framework of an active and mutually beneficial cooperation, based on shared values of respect for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of States

Both sides reviewed the state of bilateral relations and discussed the prospects for their development, pledging to promote a dynamic sectoral cooperation in areas such as security, agriculture, renewable energy, technology, higher education and scientific research.

MFA Bourita and Cafiero also affirmed their common desire to strengthen the bilateral legal framework and agreed to hold the 5th meeting of Political Consultations and the 5th session of the Joint Morocco-Argentina Commission.

In addition, the two Ministers agreed to hold a business forum and exchange visits on both sides to lay the foundation for an exemplary partnership for the benefit of both countries.

Rabat and Buenos Aires also noted the interest in exploring the prospects offered by triangular cooperation, advocated by the Sovereign in the service of a co-emergence in a win-win logic, stating their willingness to take part in any project that would involve an exchange of experiences between African and Latin American countries, especially in the agricultural field.

On the multilateral level, MFA Bourita and Mr. Cafiero stressed the need to strengthen their cooperation within regional and international organizations, especially to address the challenges facing the two regions, including terrorism, migration and climate change.

Recalling that Morocco is an important partner of Mercosur to which it is linked by a framework agreement on trade, signed in 2004, Argentina is committed to working to strengthen the partnership between the two parties.

In addition, MFA Bourita congratulated Argentina for the presidency pro tempore of CELAC (Community of Latin American and Caribbean States) and the presidency of the Human Rights Council for the year 2022, inviting it to coordinate with Morocco within this important UN organization.

At the end of this meeting, MFA Bourita reiterated the invitation extended to his Argentine counterpart to make a working and friendship visit to Morocco.
